(Joachim) Our music is homogeneous, it goes very well together, and yet we really have different styles, that’s why it clicked very well. Why did you decide that you three were the right people to launch this project with? I am sure you all know other talented artists in your scene. (N’to) Friendship and a common vision on music drove us to create Hungry Music.įirst of all, we wanted to be free from any code and to be allowed to tell our stories just the way we felt like telling them without any restrictions or boundaries. But this was just the beginning.Īt what point did you decide to start Hungry Music? Was it someone’s idea in particular or did something happen that prompted this decision? It immediately felt like the best way to express myself at the time with my first melodies which were to become more obviously sophisticated when I decided to produce electronic music. (N’to) My first urge was to play an instrument and very naturally I fell in love with the guitar when I was a teenager. What was the first artistic endeavour you embarked on? One year later, we got to know Joachim Pastor and his music, and it just felt natural for the 3 of us to do something together around the connection of our 3 universes – and Hungry Music was born. We got the chance to connect artistically, but then kept in touch and became friends. (N’to) It all started at a festival in the south of France, where Kevin (Worakls) and I were both booked. In honor of Hungry Music’s recent 5th Anniversary Compilation, we invited Worakls, N’to & Joachim Pastor to provide an exclusive one-hour mix of their own material for this week’s Global Vibe Radio episode.Īt the end of 2018 Worakls, N’to and Joachim Pastor marked the fifth anniversary of their Hungry Music label with Hungry 5 – an extended compilation, detailing the French collective’s journey through melody. Hungry Music (Worakls, N’to & Joachim Pastor) In 2021, Howard received a Royal Philharmonic Society Award for her Trombone Concerto and she is currently recording her debut album with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.JanuQ&A and Global Vibe Radio 144 Feat. Howard’s music has been performed internationally and she is currently composer-in-residence with the London Chamber Orchestra. This piece is really about motivating yourself and others to get through difficult situations.’ ’ We used to chant it from the stands at sports days as a form of motivation when people were running. ‘ Ga Yau is the expression ”add oil” in Cantonese, which essentially means to keep going,’ Howard told The Strad. ![]() ![]() Performed here by cellist Danushka Edirisinghe, Add Oil is inspired by Howard’s family and friends who were ‘stuck’ in Hong Kong for the entirety of the pandemic.
